We’ve booked our first event! And seriously we are over the moon about it.
And I know some of you are excited to hear about where we’re at in the renovation process of Sway. Well, we have sanded off the rust in the interior + cut out some metal + rebuilt the wooden floors + painted the interior two coats of white paint + done electrical + added some insulation. We have purchased a fridge, grinder, hand sink, water tanks, generator, to name a few things! There’s still a lot we need to buy, but we are taking it a day at a time and doing our best to get this show on the road. This week we’re going to be wrapping up installation of all that equipment and welding metal over one of the windows to make room for shelving. We’re hoping to solidify our menu soon + find that perfect blue exterior paint + lay down some vinyl flooring! Can’t wait to show you a progress picture.
We’ve gotten a lot of questions the last few weeks. (Curious people are our love language so keep the questions coming!) So we decided to make a little post about the top questions we get:
Q: How did you come up with the name Sway?
A: Horses sway when they walk, trailers sway a little when they travel, and people sway a lot when they’re feelin’ the music and not sure if they’re ready to really bust a move. We wanted a name that was short and sweet and made people think about dancin’.
Q: Where will you be taking this thing?
A: We will operate in Colorado Springs, Monument, and Palmer Lake.
Q: Is this your full-time job?
A: This is Aranda’s full-time project right now. (Putting that business school to work!)
Q: How did you get this idea?
A: We’ve been interested in starting a family business for as long as we’ve been together. We started talking in November more seriously about starting an online market of Alaskan + Coloradan products, since Aranda really loves going to the post office and shipping things. Haha. But it was a slow start. And one day on Pinterest we saw a horse trailer converted into a bar for weddings. And the idea just wouldn’t go away. Kudos to Joe who said “I’m buying you that and we’re doing this thing and there’s no going back, you’re amazing Aranda and I believe in you”. Thanks for following along! It’s really fun to do this together.
So much love,
Joranda + Sway
